CANUK Celebrates With The Nigerian Community Oxfordshire At The Cowley Road Carnival.




As part of our promise to ensure regional intergration, the CANUK regional team lead by its 2nd Vice Chair, Malcom Benson, supported by the 1st Vice Chair, Ronke Ali Udofia and member of the Publicity Committee Olayomi Koiki, on the 2nd of July went to the city of Oxford to support and celebrate with the Nigerian Community Oxfordshire (NICOOX) at the Cowley Road Carnival.


It was a day of fun games, dance and food. The CANUK team was part of the mile long procession and retired to thee Nigerian stand was clearly distinct with the green t-shirts and was very vibrant and one of the most visible. There was alot of Nigerian music: Nigerian Jollof rice the atmosphere was heady and pulsating.

Cowley Road Carnival that brings together the many different people in and around Oxford, with a sense of community and connectivity, to celebrate their diversity Nigerians from Derby and Birmingham were in attendance


NICOOX lead by Alhaji Taofik Shodunke have all done a great job building bridges in the community and facilitating activities that promote cohesion and address societal concerns in the community.

CANUK is glad to have been there to support one of our member organisations as we continue to make good on promise to bring about regional integration.
